Modules of the KARKAS shell

The KARKAS shell is built on a modular principle and for this reason it has the ability to connect other additional modules. The following main modules can be distinguished in the system architecture:
loader;
module for developing a knowledge base;
consultation module;
data clustering module;
The loader launches the system and coordinates the interaction of all modules.
The main component of the module for developing the knowledge base is the editor of the knowledge base.
The consultation module contains the following components: an inference engine, an explanation block, a test parser, a bulletin board, and a fact base monitor.
The data clustering module allows interactive and intelligent classification of multidimensional data.
The Web services module allows learning and information retrieval using Web technologies.
To test knowledge, a test generator and a teacher monitor are used.
System modules are presented as software passive agents (their interaction is carried out using parameter arrays and through the computer's shared memory). The medium of their interaction is the "KARKAS" system.
Components such as the knowledge base editor, inference engine, explanation block are common to the listed modules and act as tools for the functioning of the modules. Modules of the "KARKAS" system can be implanted into prototypes of expert systems.
